“Metro” or brick shaped tiles

The Metro name comes from being used in underground train stations and at present these ever popular brick shaped tiles are the tile of choice for most kitchens. The basic white version is thought by some to be a bit clinical, but these ceramic tiles now come in an amazing choice of size, colour and finish making them a great option for any style of décor. Either bevel edged or flat, these rectangular tiles can transform and enhance any setting!

Bold bright colours are great for a modern look while soft neutrals, blues and greens with either a crackle glaze or textured edge, are perfect for a country feel. They are available in a range of classic heritage colours to complement Victorian or Georgian style interiors and marble versions are gaining in popularity.

Traditionally laid brick fashion, how about laying them stacked – either horizontally or vertically – for a more contemporary look or maybe even herringbone fashion? Contrasting or matching grout colours can make a huge difference to the overall look also.
